Explore Anacortes and Fidalgo Island

Anacortes, on beautiful Fidalgo Island, is an amazing destination for out-of-state visitors and Washington State residents. For the sea kayaking community it is an outstanding launching point for day trips along its scenic shorelines, multi-day expeditions into the San Juan Islands, or for adrenaline-packed adventures inside Deception Pass.

Off of the water activities are numerous as well. If you are going to come here then it is worth scheduling some extra time to explore some of the 50+ miles of trails in our Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL) and Deception Pass State Park.

GENERAL INFO

  • Our local Chamber of Commerce acts as the Destination Marketing Organization for Fidalgo island. On the website you can find comprehensive information about things to do, places to eat, and local shops and restaurants. It is a great place to see all of our lodging properties.

SKAGIT VALLEY

  • To be honest, we just felt the need to highlight a Body Boat Blade traditional watering hole. The locally famous Brown Lantern Tavern.  

    Some things just don’t need to change and all of you who have supported BBB over the years know perfectly well that we will be heading here often for post-class meals and drink! 

    Everyone in town knows when the padding season is in full swing when they see vehicles loaded with colorful kayaks parked on the street in front of this historic pub.

  • Start your day right with a delicious, freshly baked bagel at Good Bagels. Whether you prefer it toasted with cream cheese or piled high with your favorite toppings, this cozy spot in Anacortes offers the perfect breakfast bite to fuel your adventure.

  • For a fresh, local dining experience, Tide & Taste serves up mouthwatering seafood dishes with a unique twist. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while savoring the finest of Anacortes’ catch-of-the-day, paired with craft cocktails or local wines.

  • Step into a welcoming, historic pub at The Union Tavern. Known for its friendly vibe and hearty comfort food, this tavern offers a great place to enjoy classic pub fare, local brews, and catch up with friends or family after a day of exploring.

  • If you're craving something quick but satisfying, Gere a Deli has you covered. This Anacortes gem offers delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads made from the freshest ingredients—perfect for a casual lunch while exploring the town.

RESTAURANTS

  • In Washington Park we have a nice campground, complete with showers, water, and electrical hookups for campers and RVs. It is also located about one minute from our office in Skyline Marina. Reservations for camp sites can be made on the Washington Park website: https://www.anacorteswa.gov/560/Washington-Park.

  • Deception Pass State Park is located about 15 minutes from downtown Anacortes. The park has a large number of campsites, in three different campgrounds within the property. It is important to note that this is one of the most popular state parks in Washington so reservations should be made early.
