Explore Anacortes and Fidalgo Island

Anacortes, on beautiful Fidalgo Island, is an amazing destination for out-of-state visitors and Washington State residents. For the sea kayaking community it is an outstanding launching point for day trips along its scenic shorelines, multi-day expeditions into the San Juan Islands, or for adrenaline-packed adventures inside Deception Pass.

Off of the water activities are numerous as well. If you are going to come here then it is worth scheduling some extra time to explore some of the 50+ miles of trails in our Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL) and Deception Pass State Park.

Below we have information that can help you plan where to stay, eat, and play before and after your experience with Body Boat Blade.

Anacortes General Info

Our local Chamber of Commerce acts as the Destination Marketing Organization for Fidalgo island. On the website you can find comprehensive information about things to do, places to eat, and local shops and restaurants. It is a great place to see all of our lodging properties. https://anacortes.org

Visit Skagit Valley

Skagit County is fast becoming one of the top destinations for visitors to Washington State. From the wildlife rich shorelines of the Salish Sea to the high peaks of the North Cascades we have a nearly endless abundance of outstanding natural beauty to explore and experience all year long. For general information go to Visit Skagit Valley.

Anacortes Camping

In Washington Park we have a nice campground, complete with showers, water, and electrical hookups for campers and RVs. It is also located about one minute from our office in Skyline Marina. Reservations for camp sites can be made on the Washington Park website: https://www.anacorteswa.gov/560/Washington-Park. Deception Pass State Park is located about 15 minutes from downtown Anacortes. The park has a large number of campsites, in three different campgrounds within the property. It is important to note that this is one of the most popular state parks in Washington so reservations should be made early. You can find more information on the State Park webpages for Deception Pass.

Anacortes Resturants

For a more complete list of restaurants in Anacortes we recommend visiting the Anacortes Chamber website posted above in the General Information area.

To be honest, we just felt the need to highlight a Body Boat Blade traditional watering hole. The locally famous Brown Lantern Tavern.

Some things just don’t need to change and all of you who have supported BBB over the years know perfectly well that we will be heading here often for post-class meals and drink!

Everyone in town knows when the padding season is in full swing when they see vehicles loaded with colorful kayaks parked on the street in front of this historic pub.

More Kayaking Opportunities

We share space with two other great kayaking companies in Skyline Marina.  If you want to join an expertly guided tour of the area, or wish to send your companions out on the water while you participate in your class, then give Anacortes Kayak Tours a call. They have been operating guided excursions into the San Juan Islands for 17 years and provide super fun trips. For sea kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, or recreational kayak rentals then check out Blue Otter Outfitters. Paddleboard and sit-on-top kayaks are available for hourly rentals down in Bowman Bay, in Deception Pass State Park. Sea kayaks can be rented to qualified paddlers for one day, or many days, from the office in Skyline Marina.
