Rescues & Re-Entries Pool Class
March 20 @ 6:30 pm - March 22 @ 8:00 pm PDT$199
Arrive 20-30 minutes early to make full use of our time in the pool. We need to rinse kayaks and get changed into swim wear.
Rescue skills are some of the most important for safe and enjoyable trips on the ocean. The question is not always if, but when will we capsize? Being well practiced in the most up to date methods of self and assisted rescue will allow you to feel confident when travelling on the sea. This kayak rescues pool class will focus on the most up to date techniques, efficient body mechanics, communication with a swimmer or rescuer, and overall balance and composure in your kayak.
Our coaches are supportive and break the skills down into their parts so the students gain a full understanding of each technique.
Foundation courses develop good body awareness, balance, and understanding of how the boat and paddle interact with the water. Learning to re-enter your kayak is a key foundation skill.
- Professional instruction in a comfortable environment
- Exercises to practice at home
- Video feedback
In this pool kayak class we will spend time developing a solid understanding of what your body needs to do in order to recover from an off-balanced position whether it is slight or a complete capsize. We will help you develop solid foundations for successful practice.
You will need to bring a kayak, paddle, skirt, and PFD. We can provide all equipment for a $30 rental fee. Footwear is not required, but if you do bring them make sure they are clean. Nose plugs and goggles are also helpful for spending a lot of time upside down.
