Want to feel solid in class 2 rivers? Then this is the clinic for you! The Beginner Boater Clinic is for boaters who have experience paddling class 2 but don’t yet feel confident and in control. With the help of one of our expert coaches you’ll build boat control, safety, and river reading skills that are crucial for mastering class 2 and setting the foundation for more progression. Skills like entering/exiting eddies, ferrying, building cross-stream momentum, using throw lines, scouting rapids, and more are amongst the content of this clinic.
The exact location of this course is dependent on water levels and group needs. Some of the rivers in contention include; The Snoqualmie River (in Fall City, and in North Bend), The Cedar River Slalom Course, The Skykomish River (west of Index), Green (Headworks & Yo-Yo sections), and the South Fork Snoqualmie River (Twin Falls State Park). The final decision is made a few days before the start and is based on a variety of changing factors.
We can offer rental options for some of your equipment needs, with the exception of whitewater kayaks, whitewater paddles, floatation bags, and throw bags. We can assist you in purchasing those rentals through Kayak Academy in Issaquah, WA.
We can rent you the following: Booties, Drysuit, Spray Skirt, PFD, and Helmet. We do have a very small fleet, in very limited sizes, of whitewater kayaks and paddles that we can offer IF sizing is appropriate. Appropriate sizing isn’t a luxury in whitewater, it’s a requirement!
