Erika O’Leary

Coach, Inspired and Energetic

Originally from the Midwest, Erika spent her summers leading canoe trips on the Niangua River and boating in the Ozarks.  When Erika moved to the Pacific Northwest, she read Audrey Sutherland’s book Paddling North. Inspired, Erika began an energetic pursuit of sea kayaking development, exploring much of the Puget Sound and ultimately finding her passion for the dynamic coastal environments of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Washington Coast.

Erika has taught courses for the North Sound Sea Kayaking Association, the Mountaineers, and other organizations. She also hosts the Tuesday Skills Practice series in Kitsap–now in its second year–where paddlers come for weekly practice in foundational skills, finding connection and community. As a coach, Erika creates a deeply supportive environment in which students achieve their goals through exploration and discovery. She holds certification as an American Canoe Association Level 3 Coastal Kayaking Instructor.
