We will paddle on the outside of as many of the big islands we can get to: experience the unmatched scenery at the south end of Lopez, the sweeping views of Haro Straight along the west side of San Jan, up to Stuart Island, Patos, Sucia and Matia. The local pods of Orca "Killer" Whales commonly navigate these same stretches of water, and the bird life is tremendous. This is a trip geared for the experienced paddler looking to play in some of the San Juan Islands' great tidal features and build their skills in current planning, navigation, forward paddling, group motivation and nutrition planning for longer journeys.
